Before connecting a Shopify app: a review checklist

Define the task first

Write down whether the proposed app needs to read products, change listings or update stock. Check its current documentation and the features available to your account. Keep a list of the data each system is expected to maintain.

Review the access request

Shopify provides app information and permission details in its app management area. Review the provider, requested access and applicable charges before authorizing an installation. Use the app provider's current setup instructions.

Test and retain a recovery record

Start with a small set of products. Compare identifiers, variants, quantities and the direction of updates. Document who can stop synchronization and how to restore an incorrect change before expanding the connection.
